Success of any microfinance institution depends on client selection and relationship management. Satin’s rural microcredit program focuses only on poor women because it is a well known and proven fact that women are more creditworthy than men. Women have proved more reliable and trustworthy in terms of loan repayment and loan utilization and usually spend all surplus income for the benefit of their families.
JLG Client Description:

Client must be a poor woman

Client’s household must be engaged in income generating activity

There should be at least 4 other women who are willing to take joint liability with her

Loan is provided only for productive purposes and not for consumption
.
Annual income of client’s household must not exceed Rs 50,000

Micro Enterprises and Income Generating Activities
Individual Liability Clients :
Satin’s urban clients are engaged in small and medium sized businesses, and loans are extended to both men and women, distinguishing the company from most other MFIs. The loans are primarily given to clients involved in productive, trading and service activities. The requirements for loans are two-fold: proof of income-generating activity and frequent cash flow.
